Leadership Initiative for Public Health in Africa (LIPHEA)
LIPHEA formed a One Health initiative called OHCEA bringing together 14 schools of public health and veterinary medicine in the East, Central and Eastern Africa region in six countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Rwanda. Country Coordinating Committees continued to hold regular meetings and to prepare sensitization workshops as well as launching of ONE HEALTH in Tanzania. A regional meeting was held in Addis Ababa 25th – 27th March 2013.for Focal persons to review progress and to plan for the third year of the project.
Pathways to adolescent health and livelihoods in Tanzania
(Youth Health Corp project – YHC)
The main objective of the project is to recruit young adults aged 18- 26 years with a minimum form IV education to be trained nationally, certified and employed as paramedical healthcare workers to provide prevention, care and treatment services for the integrated management of adult and child illnesses. During the reporting period the project was following up policy implications of the CHW work. Following the Bagamoyo stakeholders meeting on CHWs in Tanzania a task force was formed to carry forward the training and deployment of CHWs in Tanzania. The task force has met once in March and formulated terms of reference to ensure that the cadre is in place before 2015
MUHAS-Harvard Public Health Informatics Training Program
Due to limited funding the project was closed while its activities and staff were absorbed by ICOHRTA and GID and Informatics provided technical support. Activities are therefore being reported under ICOHRTA
Building Capacity for HIV/AIDS Human Resources at the MuhimbiliUniversity of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) School of Public Health in the United Republic of Tanzania under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)
